I think "Calling All Angels" is a perfect name for our annual meetings. The reason being, these women are truly angels in disguise, as are all the women who participate in our little group. They give their time and encourage so many other women who have suffered the same unfortunate loss. They help to provide hope and peace of mind, which is a priceless gift. I think this song is also perfect! We never give up and we will always be here for each other, above and beyond what originally brought us together.
So after saying for years that we should all get together, we finally managed that this past July. We met high in the hills of Ohio and we had the most amazing time. The cabin was beautiful and cozy, the perfect setting for old friends to gather. We laughed, we cried, we talked, not necessarily in that order. Before we met in person, we were internet friends. Now we are TRUE FRIENDS! If that makes any sense ;o).

There was some talk about the 50 Mile Rule! However, as group owner, I think I'm entitled to spill a few of the beans.
I drove up the night before with Valerie, that was quite the adventure for a Canadian eh? We did fairly well considering neither one of us had been to Columbus, Ohio. We found Karen's house with minimal supervision and there she stood jumping up and down. It was like coming home to an old friend. We met Olivia and Mike, but we had to wait until the morning to meet Emma. She was shy, but warmed up to us, just as we were leaving, just my luck.
Then we were off to do some major grocery shopping. We filled two carts and waited patiently as the cashier slowly checked us through, molasses moves faster than this woman. Off to another store for liquor and raced to the airport.
When we arrived at the restaurant Jeanette and Jen were already there. Flirting with their waiter shamelessly, damn New Yorkers! We all sat down and ordered drinks (just the beginning of many, many drinks) and waited for Dana and Vicki to arrive. We all watched with anticipation, knowing both were very nervous. Vicki was telling Dana she wasn't ready, just as they spotted us. Everyone hugged and we settled in for a drink and then headed to the cabin.
After driving for what seems an eternity through the winding roads of Ohio, we arrived at the cabin. It was definitely worth the drive, it was comfortable, homey and cozy.
